19 October 2008Long Time Coming
Hello!
It’s a long time since I last wrote, in fact, far too long so I apologize to you all because I have not kept you all up to date myself. The last month or so have been hectic and I have had many a task to carry out that unfortunately took precedent over my second newsletter, but you needn’t be disappointed because I have much to update you on.
By now I hope you have discovered all of the features available here at www.lukejonesracing.com and am sure you will not be disappointed with the upcoming additions to the site which should be available by the start of the new year. I am really excited about these as they will enhance what I am sure you will agree is already a good web page. But I shall move on, and let you all know what I have been doing.
I shall begin with the bad news; we had to withdraw from the Super 1 British Kart Championships. I am sure you saw the two news articles about the meetings that I could not compete in; it was wholly due to unfortunate circumstances that we could not race. I was disappointed at first because like any driver I want to race and to win, but now I look forward to next season and to taking the next step on the “racing ladder”.
So the exciting news is that I have already attended my first two residentials with the Race Drivers Academy. The first at Loughborough was a fantastic experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of drivers to be sharing this stage of my life with. My second week was immediately after the Loughborough trip and was at the Silverstone Circuit. A fantastic week, I thoroughly enjoyed playing with some very special Lotus Exige S cars, which can only be described as rapid. Not only did I get the joys of sampling some of Colin Chapman’s finest, but also I was paired with my mentor, Jaguar FIA GT3 driver Chris Dymond, who will be helping me plan and develop my career from this point onwards.
Tomorrow marks the start of residential three with the RDA, another visit to Silverstone and a week based on Sponsorship and PR. This will help me develop my media and presentation skills, and hopefully I will walk away with a few handfuls of cash to put towards next season’s racing. Presently I am in talks with a few companies, though I cannot reveal their details at present, they are nationally recognized companies and I would be privileged to work with them; so it really is getting quite exciting as we enter silly season.
Having now worked with Chris for a while, we have decided to alter my career path to maximize my chances of success and we are now heading into 2009 looking at the BRSCC Club Formula Ford National Championship as a start point before we look towards faster, more advanced junior categories. This is something that excites me a great deal and so we shall see where I am with regard to next seasons racing in the coming months.
Good to speak to you all again,.jpg)
