• 22 January 2009LJR Confirms Le Mans!

We can finally announce that Luke will be competing at this years 24 Heures Du Mans Open Kart event at the Circuit Alain Prost. This year the event will be held on July 4th and 5th at the track nestled between the famous Porsche Curves of the La Sarthe circuit. Adding another event to his race calendar was vitally important to Luke because he wants a diverse range of experiences as he moves towards a professional driving career.

In a last minute development, Luke was selected for the Full Can Motorsport. The team is full of top British Championship karters and future motor racing stars including the likes of long-time team mate Spencer Barrow (British number 9), as well as friends Jack Dex (British number 5) and  Tom Witts. In what looks to be a truly special team, captain Luke Austin has expressed his hopes for taking the class victory. We caught up our man to find out what he thinks of his first race abroad.

"I am incredibly excited about racing abroad and in an endurance race for the first time. The team looks great; and even though I got in late, I think that I can bring something unique to the team. We are definately going all out for the win so there is some tactical work to be done. Luke (Austin) is the captain so he will be making all the decisions but I am sure I can help with them in some capacity. I hope to bring some useful preparation knowledge to the table aswell as experience with some of the team that could allow us to time our stints perfectly."

So all seems quite positive on the Full Can front, and its not just from a racing point of view. Luke was quick to add "We are going to hallowed ground, La Sarthe is an important place for most drivers but to me it means so much more; I have a passion for GT cars and I have followed the 24 Heures Du Mans for as long as I can remember so to race near the track will be incredibly special for me.

We can't wait to see how Luke gets on, hopefully he will return to our shores as one of the kings of Le Mans.
