After a few recent developments, Luke has had to withdraw from the penultimate round of the Super One Series. But this needn't be a bad thing. We got Luke's reaction.
ljr.com: So Luke, you've had to withdraw from the penultimate round of this year’s championship, how do you feel?
Luke: Well for sure I am a little disappointed; any competitor would be, because competition is what we thrive on. Things that have happened this year have been quite unfortunate; especially Buckmore, which took a substantial part of our budget away after everything that happened.
ljr.com: Does this mean that you won’t finish the season?
Luke: No, not at all, we are still registered with the championship but things might be a little tough. We are going to sit back from this round and take a look at the bigger picture, if we can afford to compete at the last round, we may well do so. We also have to consider next season, it might be more beneficial for us to take a couple of outings in Formula Renault and get used to the different style of driving.
ljr.com: Does this mean theta you are off to pastures new then?
Luke: It could well mean that. I have spent a fair amount of time in karting and have shown that even in my darkest hours; I can pull off some good drives. We have been looking to cars for the past couple of seasons, maybe this has taken my attention away from karting slightly, but hopefully in 2009 we will make the jump for good.
ljr.com: So does this mean that you've not been concentrating on your competition or just that you are aware it is time to move on?
Luke: I would never break my focus, when I am on track I am committed to my driving fully; but off track has been different to normal. We have made alterations to our budgets and our style of work accordingly. No, I would definitely say that we are considering moving on. There is never a time when you say, right it’s finished, especially when you have taken so much from a sport. I will come back to karting because I suppose I probably won’t leave it altogether. But yes maybe it is time to try my hand at something new.
ljr.com: Well thanks for your time Luke; I'm sure we will hear from you soon.
Luke: No worries.
