Luke's home event was sure to be a big one, there is always something about the home race that can lift a drivers game and this evident in his performance.

Friday announced Luke's return to the Intrepid chassis and all seemed well, running just 2 tenths of a second off of the pace of experienced team mate Jack Whelan and close to the pace of the front runners. However, the luck didn't last, with an engine seizure in practice on the fastest section of track. Saturday arrived and Luke's luck didn't improve, three times the clutch disengaged in practice; and qualifying came and went without change when the chassis welds broke and Luke had to retire after some 5 laps.

Race day beckoned, but the heats were as dismal as the rest of the weekend; however, when the B Final arrived, it seemed salvation did too. Luke left the grid in 21st, by the end of the first lap he was in 7th, a lunge into hairpin 1 saw Luke move into 5h and through into 3rd at hairpin 2 after two drivers collided. Surely this proved the blistering performance that Luke was clearly capable of. With an unofficial lap record in the bag, some 3.5 tenths faster than anyone ran the entire weekend, it looked as though Luke might be competitive enough to challenge well in the A Finals. Unfortunately it was not to be, one of the spinners from hairpin 2 turned into Luke, breaking the steering arms and sending Luke into the barriers with no reward for his endeavours.
