03 November 2008Lewis Rains Supreme
Hi Everyone,
Thought I would write this news story because I am a huge Hamilton fan. I have followed Lewis' moves through karting and cars until he reached the pinnacle. I wonder how it feels to be crowned the best driver in the world. He is very gifted and an inspiration to us all, drivers and fans alike.
What happened at the Interlagos circuit yesterday was amazing, it was the most nail biting race I have seen in a long time not because of what happened specifically, but down to what was at stake. We must also say well done to Felipe Massa who drove a flawless race but it wasn't enough. This said, he is a gracious loser and has come a long way since his Sauber days. But I shall move on, and scream out LEWIS HAMILTON - WORLD CHAMPION because that is what I was feeling last night; the time it took him to get to the line on the last lap seemed like forever, but it is a championship richly deserved and though I still believe he won fairly last season, this must make up for what would have been heart wrenching at the time.
I saw a story on the BBC today where they went to the true home for Lewis' racing at Rye House kart circuit, they interviewed young kart racers and I could see the hope in their eyes, one said he was 11 and had just started karting. Many will say give up, but I say to him go for it, I was the same age when I started racing and I fought against the odds to be where I am currently. With determination comes success, something those young drivers must remember.
Sadly, yesterdays race also saw us bid farewell to David Coulthard, a man for whom I have enormous respect. It was a sad day because one of the men who replaced Senna retired, whilst a young driver who idolised the great man triumphed. I wish for David that his race had ended crossing the line after so many laps but still he is a great driver and I wish him well in all he does from here on.
Still, I shall say it again, Lewis Hamilton - World Champion! That feels great, even for me to say it...
